being a grown up...

So...you'd think by now I'd have this parenting thing down. Anybody who says that their parenting ends when the kids turn 18 are nuts, crazy...

For example my 8...

One is going through a divorce...both are not playing nice. kids and grandma suffers...

Two are alcoholics in the making...

One is oblivious to the whole world...living in never never land...(which to me sounds ok sometimes, but not realistic)

Two are very very almost overly responsible...not a bad thing in these times...

The other two, they are stuck between grown up and being a little kid, and these two have an age difference of nearly 10 years...but at least they are moving in the right direction...

:::sigh::: I guess a sure sign of being a good parent is knowing when to let them go...

Yep, we can't live their lives for them, although it's very hard to see them make bad decisions. Mine are still young, but I'm sure I'll be going through some of that as the years go by.

Oh my word, I am learning that the whole "letting go" and watching them slip and fall sometimes is so damn hard!! They say that kids are like your own heart living outside of your body and I think that is SOOOO true!!

I think my parents would feel the same. HA! Unfortunately, my parents put the "One day you'll have a child just like you" curse on me.

Ouch!

At this point there's nothing you can do but be there for them when they need you. ((Hugs))

Yep when they are young you think if I can just get them grown. Then when they get there you can only watch from the sideline and pray a lot.

I'm working on the letting go thing. It's hard watching them make mistakes and even harder watching them not learn from them.

Laughing hysterically...Umm...no our parenting doesn't end when they leave home. I think this part of being a parent is the hardest...Watching our kids fall and not being able to do a thing. Besides help them up and watch them make the same idiotic choices all over again. I would give anything for those days of feeling like I could keep my daughter safe from the world...(Hugs)Indigo
